Till ADMK exists BJP cannot grow in TN. People know only ADMK has the strength to defeat DMK. Problem for BJP is, they are strong in Kongu (Gounder) belt but ADMK also is very strong there. In every election, during the last few weeks before polling BJP voters shift to ADMK. That's the reason they are not going above 2% though opinion polls indicated 4-5%. They are only getting their usual committed 2%. Opinion polls may also be a small reason this time. Among Gounders, Nadars(partly) and Brahmins, BJP is their "second" vote. They talk in support of BJP but vote for ADMK. ADMK had two important backing communities Gounder and Devar this time but DMK didn't do enough on that front.
